Adventure Out runs beginner and multi-day clinics at Linda Mar Beach with lifeguard-certified instructors, all gear included, and a maximum 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio. Classes cover ocean awareness, wave etiquette, paddling, pop-up technique, and water safety before hitting the waves. Ideal for total beginners through advanced beginners, ages 13 and up. Private and group options available 365 days a year.

Staff are knowledgeable, laid-back, and great with first-timers. Group lessons start at $94/person; private 1-on-1 lessons are $199. One of the most accessible entry points for anyone wanting to try surfing without a big commitment.
A kids-focused surf and skate camp operating at Linda Mar Beach. Campers spend mornings in the water learning to surf and afternoons on the onsite skate park. Counselors are praised for their energy and patience, and kids regularly return summer after summer. Summer camp format; weekday morning sessions.
One of Pacifica's most trusted local surf shops, Sonlight is the go-to spot for board and wetsuit rentals before heading to Linda Mar. Stinson Beach and Bolinas are Marin's premier surf spots — sheltered, consistent, and beautiful. Bolinas in particular is one of the best beginner breaks in all of Northern California, tucked inside a large peninsula that keeps waves small and manageable year-round.
A women-owned operation led by instructor Nicki Clark — a Marin native and one of the most respected surf coaches in the area. Offers private lessons, group sessions, women's surf clinics, and multi-session packages for all levels ages 5 and up. Lessons run 1.5 hours at Stinson Beach or Bolinas depending on conditions and skill level. The women's Friday morning surf group is a community highlight.
Run by instructor Nick Krieger out of Bolinas, this is one of the most highly-reviewed lesson operations in the Bay Area. Nick's approach goes beyond technique — he teaches students to read conditions, understand currents, and develop real ocean awareness. Private and small group lessons available. Bolinas is an ideal learning beach: small consistent waves, minimal crowds, stunning scenery.

A kids' surf camp based out of Mill Valley (Proof Lab) that travels to Muir Beach, Stinson, or Bolinas each day based on conditions and tides. Kids are dropped off at Tam Junction in the morning and returned in the afternoon. Run by Ian Glover, the camp is beloved by repeat campers ages 6–12 and praised for its tight-knit community feel.
